The first is Fate Strange Fake where an AU version of a character from the 2nd grail war is one of the masters of one of the saber servant. Now the Fate Prototype universe is still part of the Nasuverse multiverse with at least two stories I know of that connect back. Note this 1st grail war was only lightly structured by Nasu and is a large creation by Sakurai for example she did the character designs of the servants and so on. Now the 2nd grail war story was never finished, but the 1st grail war with Fragments of Blue and Silver is a light novel series started by Hikaru Sakurai and not Nasu, yet given Nasu's blessing. This was Nasu's first story he never published and never completed and it had a 11 minute or so trailer in Carnival Phantasm showing the idea and concept. Aka the rules are more different than FSN and Fate Prisma Illyaįate Prototype Fragments of Blue and Silver is the 1st grail war, this grail is not connected to the Einzbernsįate Prototype is the 2nd Grail War and is actually the main story with call backs to Fragments of Blue and Silver.
That's right, it's a prequel to a story that was never actually released.įate Prototype, Fate Prototype Fragments of Blue and Silver are two alternative grail wars in completely different realities that is very different than the mainline FSN reality with lots of different characters and different rules for the grail war, etc. It's a light novel series, and it's the Prototype timeline's equivalent of Fate/Zero, relating the events of the Holy Grail War ten years prior that the protagonist's relatives fought in. The trailer/digest is the only version of the story that exists, although it is supplemented by the materials, which go into a lot more detail on the backgrounds and personalities of some of the characters, contain a complete script for the trailer including scenes which didn't make the cut, and feature liner notes from Nasu discussing various ideas which were or weren't reused in Fate/stay nightįate/Prototype: Fragments of Blue and Silver, on the other hand, is a real thing that really exists. Fate/Prototype is that original concept, realized in a significantly less-altered way, by modern character designers and animators. Fate was the light novel concept Nasu worked on in high school (?) that he later revisited and adapted into the visual novel Fate/stay night.
